Kalam is designed to respect your privacy.
Local data
Information such as messages, names, and settings is stored locally on your device and stays under your control.
Data loss
If the device is reset, cleared, or lost, this data may be permanently removed.
Exported data
If you export a backup file, it may contain personal or sensitive information. You are responsible for storing and sharing it securely.
Diagnostics export
Kalam captures recent app events (such as speech requests, errors, and service worker activity) in memory so that the caregiver can voluntarily export a diagnostics file when something goes wrong. Nothing is sent automatically. If you choose to export, you control where the file goes and who receives it. The file does not contain message text or dictionary content — only structural identifiers, timings, and error details that help diagnose bugs.
If you write to us
The contact page stores nothing and sends nothing — it only opens your own email app with a message you have written. If you do send it, your email address and whatever you wrote arrive in an ordinary mailbox, read by the person who maintains Kalam. It is used to reply to you and for nothing else: no mailing list, no database, no sharing with anyone. Messages are deleted after 12 months, or sooner if you ask. Please leave out names and private medical details — we do not need them to help.
Changes
If privacy practices change in future versions, this page will be updated accordingly.
